ATTN Minnesota Teams: Battlebots?
I'm just throwing it out there, but is there any interest from Minnesota FIRST teams, or any teams from the surrounding region, in building building a combot for an off-season competition, likely during the summer? A few members on my team (myself included) have a bunch of spare parts from previous competitions,
and were thinking about how interesting it'd be to build one and have an event. Yes, I know there are other competitions out there, including one right here in Minnesota, but they're either: A. Once a year in some other, far off part of the country (CA, FL, etc.), or B. Have only a <=15 pound weight class, something which almost takes most of the destructive tendencies out of the sport (and almost removes the possibility of using old FRC equipment). There is no plan for weight classes, date, or anything else; I'd just like to gather from members here on whether or not they'd think it'd be interesting and willing to do a Battlebots event in June-July here in MN. This isn't really FIRST related, aside from attendees probably being on FRC teams. Anyone interested? |

Re: ATTN Minnesota Teams: Battlebots?
Yes!
I have been thinking about doing this as possible fundraiser. Teams could host competitions & we could have paid contests. I was thinking of something a bit less destructive than Battle bots but still more head to head collision/destroy than FRC. What about some sort of button that would be under a destructible casing. Destroy the casing, then hit the button shutting down the other robot. My main goal is that the robots would be able to compete in multiple rounds allowing for more $ for us to collect. (plus it is no fun to watch your creation be turned into rubble, they may not come back) May be could talk more or send something around at competition? Mark |
