cRIO without drivers station

Is there any way to use the FRC cRIO for a project where we don't want to use the drivers station?

Re: cRIO without drivers station

Yes and no depending on what your looking for.

If you want to have a robot but not have to carry around the driver station, there is an application on the iPhone app store that lets you enable and disable the cRio with just the iPhone.

If you mean have the cRio doing stuff with no computer connected and its just powered on, then there are ways it could be done, but nothing simple, and im not sure it would even be possible because the cRio firmware is pretty dependent on the driver station for having control.

If you can give a short description of what your trying to do, i might be able to give some advice/suggestions.

Re: cRIO without drivers station

The FPGA in the FRC-cRIO won't activate any PWM or relay or solenoid outputs unless it gets an "enable" command from a Driver Station.

You can use one of the small blue KwikByte Driver Station boxes instead of a full-blown netbook. I think it should run okay powered from the 12v PDB output. AndyMark still has them available.
