Atlantic Canada possibilities

I have been thinking of trying to spark or even start teams in the atlantic provinces, mainly in Saint John, NB, my hometown. I would just like to hear what others have to say, or some helpful advice. Irving would be a possible sposnor for one, and the school could be Saint John High. They could go to Quebec regionals, which will, to the extent of my knowledge, start next year.

Thanks!

Re: Atlantic Canada possibilities

Hey!

I'm currently at Mount Allison (Sackville, NB), although my home team is 1334 from Oakville ON.

I've been working for the last year or so to start FIRST up and would love to chat with you about this! (skype might be better suited for a conversation like this?)

I'll hopefully have 3 FLL teams up and running next year who will compete in NS most likely. My goal is to end up with a regional/provincial FLL tournament in NB.

The reason I'm working on FLL right now is that it's much easier to bring without any existing infrastructure and to be honest, I feel that it's more sustainable for NB than FRC (for a number of reasons, I'm happy to elaborate if you want). My intention is to transition kids from FLL to VEX or FTC since I find they are much more accessible than FRC, especially out here.

I'm thrilled to see more people out east wanting to get FIRST up and running and I'd be happy to offer support if you need it with your plans for an FRC team.

Let me know what you need help with!

Thanks,
Evelyn
