Web Hug
Posted by Mike S of team #21, Boeing NASA-KSC "ComBBAT", from Titusville HS, Astronaut HS sponsored by Boeing.
Posted on 4/26/99 8:49 PM MST A very special thanks is in order to the Chief Delphi team for all your efforts this year to keep us all in the loop and communicating. The forums have been a powerful multiplier of the entire FIRST experience. We (myself and the ComBBAT Veteran, Scott S.) are extremely sorry we missed the web hug and wish to publicly apologize for this unacceptable behviour. We got caught up in the intense competition and simply forgot about it. Being lifelong Floridians we also apologize for the heat. It was HOT for this time of the year. However, we are ecstatic about our performance. In this, our 2nd year of competition, we scored 486 points in our last qual match and moved to 49th place overall. We enabled our partner, Team #57 Hot Bot to move from 50th to 10th. They then selected us as the bench warmer in the tourney. We have never made it to a tournament before, so it was a big deal. Lastly a comment on alliances. I like them because they add the real world aspect of having to communicate and collaborate with others. There was some very detailed discussion and stats on here about the chances of getting all bad partners a few weeks ago. Well during the competition it seemed like we were getting screwed. In our 3rd and 4th match the partners hardly moved. In our 5th only the robot showed up, no drivers or human players! (They got lost at dinner or some lame excuse like that) However we also had Baxter B Squad, Heat Wave and Hot Bot as partners! 50% good, and 50% bad. It worked out. Ciao to all and see you next year. Note, the Boeing company and NASA KSC we are already working on next year's KSC regional. You shuld plan now to attend. It is the finest venue I have been to and I promixe in Feb. or early March it will not be so hot! |
