Re: 2012 Queen City FRC Regional
I got a call into our RD. She was not sure if we would be on the list or not.
Also, last year we applied for a Program Growth Grant and was awarded one, so you can always apply via that route. |

Re: 2012 Queen City FRC Regional
Almost 2 weeks in and I'm sure everyone is busy with robot design and fabrication, maybe if still talking strategy. I know it seems early to be thinking about the Regionals, especially a Week 6 event, but we are trying to make this a top notch Competitiona in Cincy and want to make sure if you have any issues or concerns you can contact me directly at jnichols@usfirst.org.
Thanks and good luck! |

How many spots are still available? The FIRST website and Blue Alliance have different numbers of registered teams...

Re: 2012 Queen City FRC Regional
looks like we got confirmation that we're officially signed up and ready to go for Queen City this morning! This is the first year we'll be participating in a second regional and we're hoping to improve on (or at least stay on par with) our great performance at Wisconsin in week 4. looking forward to meeting a (mostly) new set of teams and joining a good portion of you on the coopertition bridge! best of luck to everyone!

VOLUNTEERS!!!
We still need several volunteers. Most of our key roles are filled or close to being filled, except for Robot Inspectors. We still need several. If your team is attending and you would like to volunteer, please do so. Thanks! |

Re: 2012 Queen City FRC Regional
From FAQ on Cincinnati Museum Center's website:
How did Cincinnati come to be known as the Queen City? During the first forty years after its founding, Cincinnati experienced spectacular growth. By 1820, citizens, extremely proud of their city, were referring to it as The Queen City or The Queen of the West. On May 4, 1819, Ed. B. Cooke wrote in the Inquisitor and Cincinnati Advertiser, "The City is, indeed, justly styled the fair Queen of the West: distinquished for order, enterprise, public spirit, and liberality, she stands the wonder of an admiring world." In 1854, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote his poem, Catawba Wine, to memorialize the city's vineyards, especially those of Nicholas Longworth. The last stanza of the poem reads: "And this Song of the Vine, This greeting of mine, The winds and the birds shall deliver, To the Queen of the West, In her garlands dressed, On the banks of the Beautiful River." |
