Re: 2012 Queen City FRC Regional

Okay, as a newbie on this forum, I'll be coming as an interested FLL coach and parent supporting Team 1529. I saw the mention of the Reds season opening games and thought I'd add my 2 cents.

Red home opener is Thursday at 1:05 pm. Bad timing for FRC participants, but the Evening home opener (and calendar giveaway promotion) is Saturday night. The game is a 7:05 game.

Is there any chance that is doable with the bagging of robots taking place around 6 pm? If so, maybe we can do a group seating thing. I'd be happy to try to work something out if there is enough interest.

Re: 2012 Queen City FRC Regional

Who wants to go see the Reds play the Marlins!

A parent from Team 1529 has done all the legwork or should I say red-legwork, and has arranged for a group rate ticket price for anyone interested in attending the Reds/Marlins game on Saturday night, April 7th.

If you plan on staying over or are on the fence, hang out and enjoy a game, attached is the flyer with all the details.

Just make sure you mention Queen City Regional in order to get the discount!

I would love to go but I think it would be appropriate to stay and help tear down the field first.

For those who aren't going to be helping tear down the field. 1038 will be helping.

5 of us from 279 came down just to watch and check the event out to see if we want to come next year.
Thus far we are very impressed.
Music could be louder and more dancing would be cool.

The main reason I do not like arena venues is there is no where for teams to dance. At DC the kids had all the room to break it down all day long (though the DJ needed to play more than 20 songs) while just like the Orlando regional which the venue reminds me the most of the teams are confined to the stands. That being said the Cintas Center is a very nice building.

Re: 2012 Queen City FRC Regional

Relive the magic of Friday qualifying:

http://www.youtube.com/user/delphielite/videos

Some other business of the day - thanks a TON to Dave Campbell and Team 144 for offering to wait at the venue while their bus took us back to our hotel at the end of the day after our bus wouldn't start. Extremely grateful to them for this very kind and gracious act - plus we got to play "clown bus" fitting about 45 people (many of them not small) into a bus meant for 35. Fun times.

6-1, 128 HP, and 170 TP through 7 matches. 3 to go. I haven't done the math, but it seems we are scoring baskets better in qualifying than probably Pittsburgh and Wisconsin combined.

All 3 NEOFRA teams in attendance (48, 379, 3193) are currently in the Top 10. 379 and 3193 are bringing it strong - looking at the schedule, they will both have a major impact in the final qualifying rankings and in the elims. I'm very proud of all my friends on these teams.

Great venue, atmosphere, and event overall. The planning committee has done an excellent job in their first go around!

Great to see Bill Beatty, Chris Fultz, and Andy Baker leading the herd o' WFA and WFFA's onto the field for the awards presentation - congrats to George Bilokonsky of 1270 - well deserved!

Finally, GREAT JOB Jimmy Nichols on all you did and do to earn today's Volunteer of the Year recognition!

Yes, thank you. I will say this has been the best spectating event I've watched remotely this year. It's true that there *are* advantages to having closeups, but it's also nice to be able to watch the entire field the whole match.

Also thank you for using Ustream, being able to watch matches anywhere when you're following a team is great.
