[EWCP] EWCPcast 12/11/11, Registration Cast Part II

Now that Registration has closed for 2012, and events are starting to fall into their final rosters we will be hosting our follow up Registration Cast this Sunday Night December 11th at 9pm EST (6pm for those of you on the left coast).

We've got Mark McLeod from team 358 (One of the FIRST Data Legends - if you didn't know) joining us to share some of the data he was able to compile about the 2012 Season's Registration, so this is a perfect time for all of the data junkies out there to listen in.

The Basic Outline is as follows:

General Registration Stats:
-Total Number of Teams
-Number of Rookie Teams
-Number of Returning Teams
-Teams that aren't returning
Regional Stats:
-Most Growth
-Least Growth
-Regions with the most missing teams
Event Stats:
-Who's Going where
-What Events are strongest
-Distribution of teams in New Events
-Full events
District Registration
-How Many Teams Chose to compete outside
-How Many Teams Chose one event
-Did the District System implementation in MAR lead to explosive growth
Championship Stats:
-140+ pre-reg? 
-Estimated Size of CMP

Would this be solely focused on data, numbers, and the growth of regions and FRC at large, or will it blend into a "who's coming" discussion of the events?
If it's the latter, I'd request that come at a later date, circa Looking Forward's posts (perhaps you could have him/her on as Special Guest?)

It should be a mix of the two, or at least that's the plan.

We're going to be looking at who's going where from a very general perspective, not necessarily as in depth as we'd go for a prediction cast.

Starting Around Kick-Off, we're planning on doing a weekly cast to talk about what's going on, who's where, what teams should know etc. Once Competition Season Starts, we're planning on doing prediction casts weekly, and maybe do some recap casts as well.

I hope I can take the time and listen but there's a good chance I'll be studying and I would like to be able to listen to it when I drive home on Tuesday.

The cast is available for download on Talkshoe within 30 minutes of the end of the recording.

Andrew usually posts it to iTunes shortly after that. If it's not up by noon-ish Monday, shoot myself or Andrew a PM and we'll get it posted.

As much as I'd love to take credit for this... the iTunes link is completely independent. It reads the RSS feed which TS publishes. There isn't anything I can do to speed that up and TS doesn't assure me that things will be downloadable anything inside 24 hours. But it should be good by Tuesday.



Yes I will certainly be discussing the growth of FRC. If I have time I may even write a blog post about it to let you guys play with numbers.

Edit: Just to be clear, Mark will probably also have his views too and those are more than welcome.

I'm fairly sure myself, Dustin, and Andrew have the same opinions about the team growth as well as rookie/veteran grants. I'm really interested to hear what Mark thinks about it all since he's been the data guru on the topic for quite a while now.
