[FRC-Designs.com] FRC Slideshow: Every Robot 2012
![]() FRC Designs: www.frc-designs.com FRC Designs Blog: www.frc-designs.blogspot.com FRC Slideshow: Every Robot 2012 With less than two weeks until the start of the 2012 FRC season, FRC Designs is presenting a challenge to all FRC Teams: Make a commitment to take pictures of robots for the upcoming events in the 2012 FRC Season. Last year, Bryan Culver (Team #33) presented this idea in this Chief Delphi thread (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=96341). For the upcoming year, Bryan connected with FRC Designs to enhance this project. Three Requirements: 1: You must commit to an entire event. Feel free to share the workload over multiple people, just ensure that you get at least one picture of every robot. This ensures that all robot get photographed. Only full competition requirements will be accepted. 2: Follow the picture requirements. To ensure picture quality every robot must be photographed while in its pit facing the aisle without people working on it. The picture must be taken diagonally showing the front and left sides of the robot. Every picture must be clear, (1024X768 MAXIMUM), and clearly show the robot's number on both the front and left bumper. This is a lot less complicated than it sounds and most cameras can shoot much higher quality pictures then 800x600. (Example photo attached below). 3: Follow the submission requirements. When your photos are sent to me they must be a .jpg file extension. The picture must be called ####.jpg where #### is the team number. (ex: 33.jpg) If you are sending multiple photos of the same robot, label pictures after the first with lowercase letters starting with "b". (ex: 33b.jpg ; 33c.jpg etc) This allows me to organize all the files easily instead of personally going through over 1000 files organizing, renaming, and changing the file extension so they all match. Follow the FRC Design submission page to contact the website (http://www.frc-designs.com/html/Submit_Design.html). Re: [FRC-Designs.com] FRC Slideshow: Every Robot 2012
Just as a rule of thumb - ask each team about posting their robot's picture online before you take the picture. Not all teams (they have their reasons) appreciate it when pictures of their robots are online for all to see, even after ship day.

Re: [FRC-Designs.com] FRC Slideshow: Every Robot 2012
Akash, although I quoted you, that wasn't directed at you. I am also aware that some teams don't like to have picture of their robot online for various reasons. Last year I was a little taken back when another team's robot showcase video had our robot in the background at a pre-ship scrimmage, so I understand the sentament. I just think its a little much to ask that no one takes a picture of your robot at a public event that is likely already webcasted. Just my opinion.

In any case, I attached another example picture because I thought that explaination was a little fuzzy. We're just looking for a diagionally taken picture with the team number clearly visable on the bumper without people working on it. Also, the picture needs tp be taken portrait style. (tall and skinny) Finally, I think Matt forgot to impose the MINIMUM picture size: (800x600). Thanks guys Regards, Bryan |

I guess we really don't have any control over what others do, though I would suggest that you hold off on posting any sort of photographic database until the week or two leading up to the CMP. At that point all of the secrets are, or at least should be, out. |

This is because I believe that Friday lunch break would probably have robots still in a great condition, and would not interfere with people performing miracles in the pits. Last edited by Ankit S. : 28-12-2011 at 19:49. Reason: Grammar |

I did not mean to cause this much controversy. We are merely trying to create a database of robot photos. Let me know what you think. Thanks! |

When you're sure, simply post what event(s) you will be photographing and what name you would like to be credited under. (ex: real name, CD name, team name, etc) Thanks guys Regards, Bryan |

Re: [FRC-Designs.com] FRC Slideshow: Every Robot 2012
Well in that case, take all the pictures you want. Heck, I'll even pose if it's needed.
