Other on team FIRST-AHOLIC from Formerly Assabet Valley RTHS (Looking for a new team in RI). Posted on 9/7/99 7:36 PM MST In Reply to: Question.... posted by Tom Vanderslice on 9/7/99 7:24 PM MST: The team I was on for the past 3 years no matter where they went has shipped the robot back to the school through the same shipping co that they used to get it there. There have been companies at the NH and CT regionals in the past, but last year they had one of there sponsors do shipping in the machine shop truck. ***Jay*** |

make a lock box and drive it...

Posted on 9/7/99 8:59 PM MST In Reply to: thanks...but now more questions... posted by Tom Vanderslice on 9/7/99 8:22 PM MST:Our team has a lockable box for the robot. A competitor team locks the box with a combination lock that we do not know the combination to. They fax the combo to FIRST and we get it at the competition from FIRST (though you should always have the phone number of the locking team handy just in case FIRST can't find it on Thurs. morning!) Using this method, we can drive our robot to the various competitions. It takes a dedicated 'drive team' to give up 24 hours each way to FL or TX or ??? but we think that it is worth it. By the way, you must clear this method of getting the robot 'out of your hands' with FIRST BEFORE you actually do it. FIRST is flexible, but they need to OK things up front rather than after the fact. Joe J. |
