Human Scoring in Last 30 Seconds

My team is considering using the option to throw over the hoops as an opportunity to score. There is nothing in the rules yet against having an inbounder throw over the hoops and score for your team. Any thoughts?

Re: Human Scoring in Last 30 Seconds

I think it's worth the shot if you have nothing else to do with those balls. Practice making it happen, though. the 8' alliance wall will be an interesting obstacle.

You need to re-read the rules. How high is the wall in front of the Inbounder station?

The alliance station wall is 6.5' tall, as always. Nothing a 5.5 to 6 foot tall human player can't handle.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see 1 or two hail mary shots make it in this season. Maybe not through the high hoop but through the lowest hoop.

I know I'll be having our human players make those shots in the last 10 secs if we have any balls.

During Teleop, Inbounders may enter Basketballs back onto the Court by:

1. passing though the Inbound Slots at any time;
2. throwing over the Inbound Station during the final 30 seconds of Teleop.

So it looks like this is limited to the last 30 seconds.

Re: Human Scoring in Last 30 Seconds

My team brought the balls into the school gym and decided to whip them around for a bit. You can definitely launch them the length of the field, as long as you have a tall player with a good arm. This is definitely going to happen in the last 30 seconds of the match, esp. since any balls that miss the hoops will just land on your offensive side anyways, so there's no reason to NOT inbound as much as you can and try for an extra score.

Re: Human Scoring in Last 30 Seconds

If someone did that, it would be amazing. I don't know how much time I would want to put into practicing something like that though. But, good luck.
