Most companies will not continue to sponsor a team after 3-4 years. Schools need to actively seek out new companies to stay alive. Having said that, I am proud to say that C.H.A.O.S. will be back in 2000! And are we ready to ROCK! Tom Wible |

It seems as if NH and esp. Manchester are overly supportive of FIRST (Manchester's its home!!) and if they knew that guy didn't support it, it could influence the race.. Not to get FIRST on a political level, but if FIRST lost support in Manchester who knows what would happen! Just a thought... cause I would definitely like to see the competition return to NH as I think mostpeople would.. |

Now FIRST has been in the paper a lot in support of the civic center and claims it can't find a venue locally until it is built. I can't believe they can't find a place and time available somewhere in our state or how about MA.......the civic center will not be done before 2001 if ground ever gets broken. The current political group seems to favor FIRST and I hope it will continue....I for 1 think the current mayor will be challenged but will remain. Our school is 1 without support within the school except for 1 or 2 teachers....we found an outside shop who let us come in for building......we do animation at our sponsors site(Unitrode) and we always raise all but the entry fees. Sometimes I feel we are on our own but I have taken the students to Rumble and River Rage and there was also no hassles from the school...we just went on our own...no engineers either so we gave many others the opportunity to help us . The spirit of FIRST always smiles on us. Our sponsors are always changing but if students really want the program they can find a way, you just have to beg more, Fran : yeah..how's that? and if it's true..is it made a point that people in Manchester know that? There are plenty of big places around here that would probably work, the Centrum in Worcester, even the Fleet Center in Boston.. there are colleges with huge gyms all over the state too...we've been suggesting it, but it doesn't seem to want to happen.. and I agree, if the students want it to happen, it can.. i recently joined the 2nd year team here at BU.. last year they barely made it competition cause of money $$, but the 7 kids, 1 college student, 1 mom, and a couple engineers made it work.. this year, we weren't going to get practically any support from BU, but after harassing, we've got the college of engineering here willing to help us find a room to work in, and i have a pile of flyers we're going to get out to spread the word of FIRST..most importantly..we've got students who want to make it happen.. so it's going to!! congrats to your team on always making it work.. :-) colleen |

It's on: http://www.usfirst.org/2000comp/info...tes.html#dates Our team is considering going to one of the other eastern regionals rather that Hartford, based on the really disappointing comparison between the Meadows last year and the birthplace of the competition at NH College in Manchester in previous years. Can other teams provide feedback on the venues at Rutgers (J&J Mid Atlantic), Suffolk County Community College (Long Island), and Drexel (Philadelphia)? Are they all stadium seating? The competition was made to play, and to be seen, in a stadium imho. |

It might be the best venue I've seen a first competition in Kuli Team 88 TJē |

If you went to Rumble at the Rock.. That's pretty much what it was set up like.. You could see the fields from even the nose bleed seats.. It was great.. Really has reminded me of the past regionals held in ManchVegas.. And the pits weren't the best in the world.. But they weren't bad either.. I'm looking forward to going back to Rutgers.. :-) -KATE- Team 190 - Gompei A lifetime member of FIRST-a-holics Anonymous.. |

That is why Chief Delphi chose to go there each year. The local people (teams) were great. The setting in the gym and the pits were super. A little close yes, but nice. |

I don't think I could give anything up for the feeling of winning the gold either. As hard as we all worked, I think in my experience, the exciting atmosphere there at New Hampshire had to be the best. New Hampshire's Regional was the best. As a driver (2 years ago), it felt great to be able to be there. I'm glad our team commits to attending the regional every year. I do miss FIRST a whole lot though. Myder |
