Video:

Team 188 - Blizzard X - Curie Division

Team 188 hasn't been to the Championships in Atlanta since 2004. Needless to say, our students and mentors are excited to again be making the trip down! There are old friends we'll be able to catch up with, and many new friends yet to be made. The robots are but a small part of the entire Championship experience, and we just can't wait to get down there and take it all in!

The atmosphere, the robots, the excitement, the 350 teams compromised of some of the best, brightest and most upstanding people I will ever meet.

This is the real reason why FIRST is so addictive.

It snowed here two days ago...

and it made me think... up here in Canada, we expect snow in mid-April. To others going to Atlanta, reading that might blow your mind. Expectations are a funny thing, and my students and I have this discussion all the time: we all have different expectations depending on where we're from, who we've competed with/against, and what small piece of the small regional FIRST puzzle we've had a chance to see this year...

What does our team expect in Atlanta?

Answer: indescribable - no solution. The FRC championships are an event that no regional can offer a glimpse into. I wish I could distill the experience into a 5 minute talk to my students, but it's simply impossible.

But what can Atlanta expect from us?

Answer: Hopefully this video sheds a little bit of light in that regard. Our team has never been a big marketing machine. We quietly plod along here in the great white north, doing the same things we've done for the past 12 years. Once in a while, we may even build a half-decent robot. I don't know if this is one of those years, but we've reaped the rewards of some on-field success at both Finger Lakes and Greater Toronto. Hopefully we can share that success with a couple more teams in a week's time!

Thanks FIRST community, for making this (and every) season an amazing one!

See you in Atlanta!

See you on Curie!

And please drop by our pits if you get a chance, we'd love to meet you!

I much prefer that music the first time Hans Zimmer wrote it, for Gladiator.

Simply outstanding effort this team has put into their robot. A pleasure to play against as always. I would not be surprised to see a team with such an amazing robot and frighteningly good tactics make it to Einstein.

I personally look forward to seeing you at Atlanta. I know that my few short breaks will consist of myself walking over to Curie and trying to watch this team play.

Best of luck on the Curie field (and hopefully Einstein) and I look forward to seeing you all at next seasons events.

Looks like a pretty darn good robot to me - well done and good luck. Wish we were joining you.

by the way - I think this was the first time I've seen a robot pick up several super cells and score with them during the match. I'm sure others have done it but this was the first I've seen it happen.

Excellent video! Our team is definitely looking forward to meet you guys. It is very clear to me, and I am sure others, that your team will do well in the division and I really hope we get the chance to have a match together with you. As another implied, you have definitely built an amazing robot. Good luck and we'll see you in less then a week
