Those poor suckers on the West coast get three hours LESS sleep than we do afterward. Anyone else glad to see that crate go every year, regardless of what's in it? |

I think that is important to note that winning teams have won without bending the rules. GP allows you to go ask, investigate and take pictures. Learn from others when you have the chance. |

The purpose of the game rules is not to imagine and categorically list everything you should not do, but to give you guidelines of FIRST's intent and leave it to your developing good judgment to know what's acceptable and what is simply skirting the rules. |

There is almost always more than one solution to any engineering problem. One part of elegant design is picking the one that makes the most sense for a particular design problem, even if that means "breaking" some normally established "rules". |

I believe with every fiber of my being that Engineering is an Art. It is a beautiful, wonderful, delightful art. |

There are laws of physics, useful rules of thumb, and cold hard economics that come into play to be sure but at it's core Engineering is Art. For these artists, there is no substute for the sound engineering judgement.

While [a college FIRST competition] would be pretty fun, I think that you'll see this build season that mentoring is a heck of a lot of fun too. (except when the kids pretend to cut their fingers off to see your reaction) |

By the way, a piece of advice to all those who haven't gone to Manchester for Kickoff before: Go. It's something you have to do at least once in your time in FIRST. |
