Start building your robot as soon as possible, but not sooner. |

Every robot needs a locky-thingy. A robot without one might fire when it isn't supposed to, and hit the wrong target; e.g., a referee, FTA, or robot inspector. |

It always surprises me how many teams wait until their robot is being inspected to learn how files should be used. |

You don't have to build a winning robot to build a team, but you won't build a great team unless they are striving to build a winning robot. |

Thank goodness there are people in this world who refuse to let physics and calculus ruin a good story. |

The thought of destroying any robot is just......depressing :( |

Yeah.... I'll pay money just for a picture of Andy [Grady] getting jiggy!
(then recommend it for the Caption contest!) ;) |

I’m not decently dressed for this picture.......I have no FIRST shirt, FIRST hat or FIRST pin anywhere on me! |

I am speechless......but I will think of something by the time it becomes an obvious candidate for the photo caption contest. |

Robots aside, how we handle these situations, communicate with one another, resolve differences and potential conflict, and overcome obstacles defines us all as people. Remember the big picture and have fun. |

In all seriousness, here's a thought for everyone: Don't worry about what you can't control. |

Anyone know anything about a missing plastic flamingo from NASA HQ? I should mention before you answer that tampering with federal property, even if it's weird stuff from (Dave's) office, is punishable by painful delivery of ChiefDelphi negative rep points. |

My only question is, Can your robot place tetras and deliver Krispy Kremes to team mentors in autonomous mode? |

You can't simply bring another 100 teams into FIRST and have them all asking Andy Baker questions. |
Rich Kressly |

I expect you to make mistakes and need help constantly. Just be sure each time you come to me, it's a new mistake and a different kind of help you need. This way I know you're growing. |

A mentor, by definition, provides a nuturing environment and, over time, makes themselves progressively unnecessary. |

And we drafted without computers...forget the calculators...we used slide rules...the punchcards piled up so high we needed more office space...and we programmed in three feet of snow...up hill...both ways |

Those poor suckers on the West coast get three hours LESS sleep than we do afterward. Anyone else glad to see that crate go every year, regardless of what's in it? |
