Just as you and your team will make hard decisions as you struggle to build a robot, FIRST has had to make hard decisions concerning maximizing safety while making the number of rules as small as possible. |

Engineering is all about trade offs. You can design yor system to do A, B or C easily. Combining A abd C or A and B or B and C requires some effort. Combining A, B and C should be near impossible. |

Designing for failure tends to encourage failure. Worrying about failure analysis during the competition can become a self fulfilling prophesy. Break your pots in the fall and learn how to keep them from breaking. |

Above all, have fun and, if you need help, ask for it... Your inspectors will be glad to help or try to arrange for another team to help you. This should not be a traumatic experience! |

So why are we trying to go to Mars? It's because it's bigger, better, and bolder. Doing what nearly no other team can do, and defying all those who say it can't be done. That reward is a lot more than 9 points. |

It's like FIRST saying "Well it was too hard, so we give up. Lets give the kids something easier to do." How is that supposed to inspire kids? |

Well, air conditioners when pointed inside the house make it cooler. So I figure if EVERYONE turns their air conditioners on full blast and just point them out the window, we should more or less get rid of this "warming" nonsense. |
