Glue it, screw it, bolt it, rivet it, weld it. If the design is flawed it will fail. |

And I have to say, those days where you are just beating yourself, and smacking your head against the wall, and you just wish the robot would catch fire so you could go home, make the top of the mountain that much sweeter. |

The driver must have a relationship with the robot, the driver should talk to the robot, speak soft encouraging words to it. Pet names are also a good idea. If the driver does not love the robot, how can the driver learn to trust the robot. |

PS: When/if it gets to be too easy to build a machine that can accomplish a recent/typical FRC game, then I suspect it will be time for someone to unveil a harder game. |

Mentors are the guardrails:
Show the students how to do what they need to do, Step back and let the students do what they need to do, Nudge them back on course when they need a nudge, Insist, when necessary, that no one tries to juggle the chainsaws |

Go with a Big Block. The torque is awesome and you cant beat the sound of a built Big Block with a high lift cam and some open headers. A blower would be a nice addition as well.

Code doesn't break. It reacts exactly the same time every time. When something new happens that never happened before, it's because the mechanicals, electricals or drivers gave the code some new stimulus that wasn't tested before. |

One wondered why they couldn't practice in the gym that day - because the robotics team had it reserved was the answer. "Oh, we have a robotics team?"
Sigh. This is a team with a low number. They've been around for at least a dozen years. There's still a lot more culture-changing to do. |
