At championship, as we do at every regional, we'll be counting every point scored (or lost) by each robot. Nothing beats numbers. |

I'm pretty sure most teams would be OK with being somewhere between Division by Zero and Cheesy Poofs! ;) |

I, as a programmer, always strive to have the entire robot operate with as little driver input as possible. Those pesky humans.... |

Weird. On a forum where people talk about robots, we have a robot trying to talk to people. |

Just that the robot battery wont catch fire if you drop it the wrong way. Those LiPos pack quite a punch. |

It's not about taking risks, but more about identifying them (which is the hardest part) and reducing them. |

I saw a big opening in the bees section and asked if we could sit for this match and was told we were welcome to sit there. Your team made space for about 15 of my team members that came with me. |

Students dream up the ideas for bots, it is than up to the mentors and engineers to make these dreams a reality. |

The point of outreach isn't to "win" a "game" so I'm not sure what you hope to achieve with such a concept. The idea of "beating" another team in terms of outreach is fundamentally flawed. |

The best metrics are your own. Do you see the impact of your efforts in your community? Do you feel like you should/could have won Chairman's, but another team was even more deserving? That's how you know FIRST is really working. |
dcarr |
Hallry |
 |
If you're doing it to win, you're doing it wrong. Teams who truly understand why they are doing what they do will win Chairman's simply as a result, an added benefit. The award isn't the goal. It's the impact you create, and the results you see. |

If mentors don't respect the students' desire to learn and take an active role in the construction, they're missing the point of FIRST. If students refuse to accept the knowledge and experience of the mentors, that's not independence - it's arrogance. |
