I am just very happy that I have never been responsible for the spelling of Karthik's last name on a name tag. Seriously. |

I was cheering like mad during the last match on Einstein - I think the rest of my team thought I was crazy...or crazier than they thought I was before! |

Our rookie drivers generally get their first "real match" experience at the Florida Regional which is usually a week 2 or week 3 event. That is a much easier "practice event" than IRI. |

Are we really at the point where the only useful thing we can discuss is Dean's choice in timekeeping apparel? The man has a watch. He uses it to tell time. Do we really care how much it is worth, or who made it? I would be much more interested in what he does, not what he wears. |

Id have to say, that is probably one of the most creative floats i have ever seen. then again, this is coming from a guy who hasn't seen many floats (disregarding the 32-bit ones). |

It's always better to figure out why a design actually works and the best ways to implement it than to just assume upgrading to a "better" material will make everything work. |

Seriously! I expect to follow what I understand to be the intent of (allow teams more time to work with their control systems) and just look out for anyone trying to bring in greater than half a robot. Or a kitchen sink. |

Adding an ounce or two of shields is way easier than filling out the mountains of paperwork for that one impatient person to stick their arm into the robot reaching for who knows what only to have their fingers meet up close and personal with a gearbox. |

To put it simply, its clearly become this. The teams that can score a lot, do well. Rather shocking, isn't it? It doesn't matter if you're a shooter, dumper, power dumper, gravity dumper, spitter, flinger, dunker, shumper, barfer, dropper, or whatchamacallit. Points are points. |

What do you do after making a design public? Improve it! What do you do when you give your opponents a weapon? Come up with a better one or a way to beat it! What is Wildstang going to do, you ask? Make their drivetrains better! |

There's a stark difference between bragging and taking pride in your work. While "Ha ha! We're better than you! We won seventeen regionals and you didn't!" would clearly fall in the former, listing your achievements would definitely fall in the latter. |

Yes ONE blue banner would be nice one of these days, but I've never lost focus of why we as mentors do what we do. It's about preparing the students for "defense" in life, and laugh when your robot gets scored into a goal. |

I don't know how you can blame a robot getting stuck in the goal on the GDC. The field drawings showed all of the dimensions of the goals. If a team doesn't want to risk getting stuck then they need to plan around it. |
