If something on your robot isn't working, then why don't you take the responsibility to fix it? Isn't that what being a TEAM is all about? |

Successful teams - in almost any aspect of life (i.e. not just robotics) - don't make excuses and assign blame when something goes wrong. They improvise. They adapt. They overcome. They correct the problem and move on. |

I'm not worried about the amount of Segways at a regoinal, I'd rather see them out in the real world than at a robotics competition. |

I love how these contests always seem to find their way to go back to Dave Lavery and (pick one) Krispy Kreme/Heidi/Photoshop |

People aren't getting angry at teams who play defense. They are getting angry at the teams who play BattleBots in the middle of a FIRST match. |

If an alternate is used, all four teams are equal members of the alliance. (Trophies, trips, bling, book tours, custody of the children etc.) |

Injuries can come out of no where. I know this is only a robotics competition but the injury doesnt care where or what you are doing. |

Mentors can't get tired, it says so in the manual. SENIOR mentors, therefore, must have a different manual! |

Isnt it fun submitting your mentors behind their backs for the WFA? |

IT ISN'T THE STUDENT'S JOB TO DISCIPLINE OTHER STUDENTS. That's why God invented mentors. Let them do their jobs. |

Earlier today, I finally saw a copy of the [WFA] essay that was submitted by my team (there will be a separate reckoning later with all those that kept this a secret from me). The narrative overwhelmed me. |

My suggestion is to first focus in on your drive base. Get it running, and drive it into the ground and see what breaks. Then fix it. Rinse wash and repeat. |

Obviously, really large issues need to be addressed, and if you feel there is a huge problem, by all means, go ahead, if you can be polite, productive, and graciously professional, address it. |

GP makes us all on one and the same team. They understand that in order for any of us to succeed, we need to help out where we can. It is why you will see so many other teams helping a team with a failing robot, buggy software, team strategy, etc. |

We use a student coach/team captain for Team 342. This allows us mentors to sit in the pit area during competition and just relax. Watching the competition really gets our stomachs tied in knots. |
