I have noticed at least a couple of threads lately on how to make sure your arm structure can take it. This is a spreadsheet I developed for my own use that provides a quick estimate of what options are readily available.

If somebody wants to continue expanding the data base I won't object, but...

I have noticed at least a couple of threads lately on how to make sure your arm structure can take it. This is a spreadsheet I developed for my own use that provides a quick estimate of what options are readily available.

If somebody wants to continue expanding the data base I won't object, but I think there is a good start here. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Just thought I'd let people know this is available. Now once you know how much you are lifting and how far from the pivot it will be, you can figure out which materials will work and which will not. This is by no means a complete list. There are probably thousands of items that could be used that aren't on this list, but these are readily available from Mcmaster-Carr, a company many teams use for materials.

I have included the McMaster-Carr numbers in the data base for easy ordering.

Chris great spreadsheet. I was wondering if you could tell us how to put 6061 round tubing tubing in the spreadsheet. We need to know the structural integrity of something that is readily weldable.
