Congratulations to 4-year member and current team captain Delia Votsch on becoming the first ever recipient of Dean's List Finalist honors at the FRC Washington, DC Regional.

FRC1712's Delia Votsch's Dean's List Nomination - 2010 Washington, DC Regional. We're really proud of the efforts of ALL of our team members, but Delia is certainly most deserving of these honors.

Congratulations to all of the Dean's List Finalist Award Recipients this year. We're proud to share the nomination written for 2010 Washington, DC Regional Award recipient Delia Votsch of FRC1712.

Congratulations to Delia. It sounds like this award was created just for students like her. I am so grateful they are getting this recognition. Thanks for posting, Rich. (I was interested to read other submissions.) I got the chance to talk to Woodie a minute yesterday and he said they hated only giving us the 4 days to submit. It didn't bother me a bit, but I know he is happy for all the teams that sucked it up and got it done for these students in time to be recognized this season.

Congratulations to Delia. Thanks Rich for sharing her terrific nomination submission. She is a very accomplished young lady, a talented leader, and wise beyond her years. It's students like Delia that will bring about changes in our cultural landscape as Dean has hoped. It is incredibly fitting that her efforts are recognized by the FIRST community by being named to Dean's List. Go Delia! Keep up the hard work.

Congratulations, Delia! Well deserved.

One of the cool things that is going to happen with this award is that we are all going to have wonderful moments of inspiration and joy when reading the essays and learning about each of these outstanding students. Thank you for sharing this with the CD community, Rich!

Jane
Jane,

I sure hope that does indeed happen here. Let me be very clear in stating that our team is exceedingly proud of ALL of our students' efforts and accomplishments. We had the pleasure of nominating two students for Dean's List honors and the luxury of choosing from many worthy candidates on our team. It was a difficult decision, but one we felt very good about in the end.

I believe some teams may choose not to share their winning nominations here, for fear it may look like they are favoring a single student and believe me the thought crossed my mind before posting this too. However, I concluded that there must be a way to value all team member efforts while celebrating role model examples in this fashion at the same time. I could write volumes about many 1712 students past and present who have also had great impact on our team, community, and throughout FIRST.

Delia happens to be one of those great examples and I hope other teams share their examples as well while continuing to find ways to honor and value the work of all others on their team. In short, if it's a worthy thing to share the WFFA and WFA essays here, then it should be an equally worthy and important thing to share these "winning" nominations as well.

What we do takes a lot of effort and we should never run short on the inspirational fuel we need to get it all done. I look forward to reading many more of these.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the congratulations, I feel truly humbled.

I want to re-emphasize what Mr. Kressly said, I am just one example out of countless fantastic and deserving students. In fact, I would not have been inspired to become a passionate member of the FIRST community if there was no community of students, volunteers and mentors to emulate. Thank you again for this recognition.

You are very right, Delia. This is what happened to me after I read the submissions for your nomination and for Krishna's: I started getting a goofy grin. One of those very happy goofy grins that comes from a place of contented amazement. It was the same goofy grin that I got when I read the 2 essays that our team submitted, nominating two 'fantastic and deserving' students. So - I went back and read those 2 submissions again to see what would happen and, yep, the goofy grin was spread all over my happy face. I'm so glad we have this new recognition of and for students. I know that many of us will grow in respect and humility, watching it become a wonderful part of our FRC potential and history.

All the best,
Jane

Congratulations again to Delia! I hope all of the students who received the Dean's List Award in Atlanta receive this kind of recognition from their schools, districts and communities, and sponsors!

Even as a finalist, this has been a great experience for Team 1511's Crystal Vongnaphone! She was recently recognized at a Harris Corporation celebration of Women in Technology and received an award that was given to four other women corporation-wide in recognition of their efforts to promote the importance of technology to young women in their communities. We were so thrilled that they chose to recognize Crystal in the same way!
