This paper describes our use of the Microsoft Kinect on-board our robot for the 2012 game, Rebound Rumble. The technical overview describes converting the Kinect into an IR camera and the vision processing algorithms employed, as well as an overview of the rest of the control system.

Looks like some nice software. I'm going to inquire about a copy to use the Kinect next year
