The sensor is a popular one in FRC, the Honeywell 1GT101DC. We got them from digikey. We experimented with a few different gear tooth sensors and this one worked the best with our mounting/distance/noise from nearby motors combo. It also was "smarter" than our other sensors, ignoring ferromagnetic screws/rivets and other stuff flying by that could mess with the count.
