Sorry ashes, but I don't believe you are allowed to give anything out at the competitions, only trade.

*tips hat to ladies in picture*

Hi yall, how're ya doing? I know Mimi, and have seen her posts but not the other two.

21.4 or whatever .4 in any of the site infos:
http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/2003/site_info/WA.pdf

It says there is to be no giving away of free stuff.
But you may trade buttons.
Once again, I inquire who the other ladies are in the picture. Does anyone know?

If you want to give someone a free shirt (or anything for that matter), is anybody really going to say anything, let alone stop you? Come on... that doesn't make any sense.

Are those TEAM appointed hoodies????

That is so cool, I wish we had team hoodies!!
Then again I wish we had retro team bowling shirts too, but the popular vote didn't like that idea.

You can still give away free stuff... just not food (& candy).

They don't want you giving away free food and filling up the audience. Many regionals have venue (food) contracts with the places they are at. They want people to buy their food and not fill up on free stuff.

Then why did they say you were allowed to trade buttons? I think that since they specified that, they may have souvenir shops or souvenir vendors.

Uhh. Oops. I guess you can't press stop and cancel the submission. Terribly sorry. I'll try to fix it. I forgot to check my spelling, wasn't sure about souvenir, but I clicked submit for some reason.

Yay! I fixed it. That was embarassing.

Hey this is Amanda...people call me biggs...hence the screen name...and as for the sweatshirts, we were given them to remember some of the team memebers that graduated....and we'll always trade sweatshirts or accept team shirts...The whole reason we even think of trading shirts is to remember those special people that we meet during competition...when we make friends we want something to remember them by...is that so wrong? we're just some girls that wanna have a good time this year...who's with me on that?

Well I think you are looking into this I BIT too much! First is for fun and if ther are people that are willing to give out a shirt with it being there last year is first I don't think First can stop them! Sorry but you shut me down and then ask who is in the pic and that is me in the center! But we are jstu having some fun, loosen a notch in your belt allright? This is just a fun thread!

Ash...I'm not wearing a belt? What should I do?

As for shirts being given away......I really don't think FIRST will care unless the food people have a contract to sell FIRST Team shirts.......lol

ok, as i see it, and after 3 years of competitions, no one is going to care if one team member gives a shirt to another person on another team as a gift. its no different from giving a birthday present to your friend or whatever. The only thing specified in rules is food related, and that is obviously from the point of being able to cut down on messes and if venues have food stands. And i mean, honestly...there is no way that venues would sell shirts specific to a team.

Yea mimi I agree with ya! there's nothin wrong with it...but let's move on I think everyone has gotten in what they wanted to say! If you don't agree with it then no one is making you give it away, and if you do then thats cool too! Mimi girl theres less than 2 weeks til Buckeye! I can't wait to go and cheer! it's gonna be so fun! I'm just glad you convinced me to take off work to go!

Unread no one cares

noe one will say anything if you give out shirts... the rule is geared towards the groups that gave out stickers and whatnot. they ended up creating a horrible mess as everyone decided to stick them everywhere. anyways, did you say grand rapids regional
