Here's another sneak peek at our 'bot. Enjoy, and be very, very afraid...

nice wings. can the bot make it under the bar with the wings down? It is pretty wide. how fast do the wings go up and down? They look nice for autonomous mode.

ClanatIt looks like the wings can be pulled in straight, letting them still go under the bar. Looks good!

the wings drop in about 3.5 seconds
PS: I'd like to point out that the bot is sitting on the goal from 2002

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I'm glad you like our 'bot. As for any info, it's classified...

Am I right in assuming those are suction cups on the far left and right of your wings? If so, it appears to be quite an intricate system of surgical tubing used to actuate them. May I ask how it works?
Overall, it looks like a great robot! A King of the hill 'bot, with the capability to herd crates and play normally without sitting on top for 1:45 seconds.
Good job!

nope, they aren't suction cups. They're just wood.
And, while i'm not going to exactly say how the flippers work (mostly because I couldn't write it
), the surgical tubing really isn't used except to keep the flappers from going down too far.
BTW: For our driver tryouts, the only thing we're testing for is to see who can play cards the best. They'll never need to touch the sticks.

I don't care how good of an autonomous mode a team has, they will still need a good driver

To me, the FEDS have always been the Little Black Box O' Death...
and now you have wings...
...excellent...
Great looking bot, will be as sleek as always in all black -- as always.
Look forward to seeing it in action at Midwest.

Are those little devices at the end of the wings "feet" that drop down to hold the bot still? The only reason I noticed was because there appears to be a "soft" cover on them. If they are "feet" how do they drop, and how are they held in place?

Jim MeyerOK here's my take. The "feet" are pneumatically deployed (look, you can see the cylinders). The "wings" are unfolded with what looks like a lead screw attached to the drill motors. Looks like a very inventive method for actuating the "feet". Thy appear to flip up out of the wings 270 deg (by first drawing the cylinder in then pushing it out). I'd also guess they can transfer some, if not all of their weight to these legs (hence the use of the drill motors).
Looks very ominous to us "non-limbo" bots!
See you at Ypsilanti!
