RAGE Bot 2003 in action

This a a wierd shot of the 2003 RAGE robot in action at the UTC regional. This picture was taken during autonomous mode and the only part of the bot visible is the 173 on the base.

What is that white strip along the top of the Lexan? I don't think they had that at AZ (however they did make a ruling saying we couldn't have an arm laying on the top edge at the end)

They should be saying your bot doesn't count when touching the sidewall top wherever you go. It's in the rules!

SC 11 Each robot touching only the top of the center platform at the end of the match is worth
25 points. You are not fully on top of the platform if any part of a robot is touching any
part of:

  • The ramp;
  • The field;
  • The top or outside of the platform/ramp structure sidewalls;
  • Both of the inside platform/ramp structure sidewalls at the same time.

I think that is easy enough to interpret by anyone scoring matches.

the passage you italisized states that you can't touch the outside (towards the stands) of the walls. a robot touching the inside (towards the middle of the field) of one wall is perfectly legal arcording to that rule.

Please excuse me if i am misinterpretting your statement.

Top of the sidewall, not inside side of the sidewall.

sanddrag said the refs were saying no points if the arm touched the top saying that they made up the rule at the regional

The white strips were white gaffers tape covering all edges of lexan. If you liked the tape job at UTC, thank me Took me all of 10 minutes after hours Thursday and Friday.

I don't remember it at AZ either, and I just noticed on the San Jose Regional webcast that it's not there either. (The same ramp that was in Phoenix?) I predict there won't be any in Los Angeles next week too.

Huh. I remember at the kickoff Dean or Dave said that they had the white stripe to make the lexan more visible to the audience. Guess they didn't want to do that.
