Go to Post Polycord. It was used in all sorts of ball systems in 2009, and on some of the 2007 claws. It's not too hard to fuse together by hand with some heat and patience. - AustinSchuh [more]

I can't believe 52 people have viewed this before I started this discussion. That is incredible. Are there more photots - close up? What parts does it use? How is is programmed? And what will it take to get one under my feet? Oh, I'm so excited.

<edit>Is there a third wheel down there?</edit>

No thats not the one from the GLR (the one at the GLR had reverse - and yes 4 wheels).

Ours is not programmed. It is a windshield-wiper motor with an on off switch. It can run in either 12 or 24V modes (switch toggle). The steering is mechanical (just turn the thing up front that I'm holding onto in the pic).

As of today, we also now have brakes on it! The next step will be reverse.

As for more pics of it, some have definitely been taken - just gotta figure out where they are. They also used footage of it in one of the Canadian Regional videos (thats where that thing is).

As soon as I saw that thing at the regional I was amazed how you got it to work so well. It uses 3 wheels. Are you planning publishing white paper plans, I really want to try building one. Is your pit area the one with the tent.

Nicely done 783. Go Mobotics!!!

PS. Where do you guys find time to make Segways, we could barely finish our robot.

No breaks?

*glup*

Anyway, I hope to see more people with their creations at Championships! And since some teams have Plasma TVs in their pits, will some have Segways?

Yah, cause we only got 2 wheels!

So from what I've heard, we are the only ones with only 2 wheels right? There's a 3 and a 4, but no more 2 wheeled ones?

I saw your team and you riding that all around the whole regional. I think that I was standing nearby when that picture was taken.. I thought that it was interesting when you both raced. The segway definitly won

Meh, you guys are cool for creating segway type things, but nothing can compare to the actual thing

lol.. saw peter gross from CP24 riding around on it.. looked like he had a bit of trouble and had to do a couple of takes to get the message to the camera right : P

CP24, BTW is a TV channel in Toronto.

I love that thing... should've kicked you guys off it so I could ride it. But it does look funny when someone has to push off a wall to go backward. Improve its speed so it can outrun a real Segway (with the limiter) and add a reverse gear and it'll be sick! The steering on it is cool, but it looks kinda difficult to start and stop; I saw some of 783's team members throw one another off it while someone was riding it. You really go flying... And yes, there are three wheels on it. so what?

P.S. That was an amazing match you guys from 783 had in the semifinals. I told Rob Gerber to tell you I idolize you, but chances are he didn't...

We have put brakes on it now, so I won't go flipping over the front any more (altho if the front wheel gets stuck on anything that still happens).

Reverse will be on version 2.

As for racing the real Segway, yeah I lost...But I kinda expected that - look at the size of the wheels on the real segway compared to this one (plus a good motor, etc...)

And do you know if anyone taped that semifinal match? I wanna see it, cause I wasn't watching, I was driving (and doing some jumping up and down too...lol).
