PS thanks Mobotics for their assistance in the Go LEAFS Go chant, we sure showed them fliers fans
15-04-2003 18:34
Calvin912Hey, dont get me wrong, the fliers are a good team, but they just cant match the Toronto Maple Leafs! Sorry to the other fans, but only one team can win the Stanley Cup, and its gonna be the LEAFS!
GO LEAFS GO!

lol..but we were really lucky in that first OT yesterday..the flyers had us beat for a bit, especially when a player came into the slot and shot one past belfour, then hitting the pipes and coming out...
go leafs go

jonathan lallAt Six Flags, about four different groups of people actually approached me and said that Philly would prevail. Prepare yourselves.
15-04-2003 22:05
ZACH P.Hey, we are playing without a real goalie, and we still managed to beat you guys once, dont worry, we will prevail.
GO FLIERS GO

LOL.. what does that say about the team when the fans dont have support for the goalie
.. though i would have to agree.. cechmanek isnt the best of choices for playoff goalies..and eliminated 4 out 5 years in the first round? hmmm

IMDWalrusEdit: Detroit is out of the playoffs. I'm not going to defend them - they just didn't play well this year.
At least I've still got my second-favorite team in the hunt...

Brett WI love how on an international forum with members from all over the world there is a thread started cheering on one team out of all the teams in North America. I guess it is because the leafs are the best team in the world
GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!

Why was I the only one (that I noticed) brave enough to wear his teams jersey in Houston? Oh yes, I AM CANADIAN. Go LEAFS Go.
Please send my regards to the Detroit Dead Things

Kane_da_slayerSee what i started, the leafs are totally gonna win
Steve i was supporting the leafs too, for all of thursday i had the leafs shirt , and the whole weekend i was wearing the Leafs Hat which TML was so kind in giving to our team, but of course you were the only one with the jersey, and we bow before you for doing so.
GO LEAFS GO!!!!

OneAngryDaisy66 shots.. Without Belfour this game would've been much shorter...
Don't touch Roenick again. At least he's not wearing a 3-foot long jaw protector like Sundin was last week.
Good game, guys- looking forward to the next one
17-04-2003 00:20

that was a phenomenal game by both sides..its almost playing 2 whole games in a span of 5-6 hours.. amazingly strong atheletes.. ive no beef with roenick now
but primeau was being a hardnosed forward, driving into belfour whenever he had it smothered.. i dont like that
belfour faced 75 shots! aaah

Kane_da_slayeryes, game 4 was an amazing game, but just remember the series isnt over yet

I pity the Flyers and the Leafs, if this goes to a game 7 they are going to have absolutely no legs left to play a minimum of 4 games next series. I guarantee the Leafs and the Flyers will not see the conference finals. So far, the Eastern Conference has not really impressed me at all.

oh big deal = ).. the leafs have come back from 3-2 down 6 out of 9 times.. and we'ev eliminated philly 4 out of 5. its a veteran club.. they know whats at stake. but also what perspective they should take
mogliny - ""Fear is a strong word," Mogilny said. "People in a war have fear. This is a hockey game. ...
"But it's a very exciting time. It's what you play for. There's a lot on the line."
While its true that this series has been exceptionally tiring, that is what makes playoff hockey. Its a long road to the finals, and teams that can last dont always have the freshest players, but they have the heart do get there.
I notice your avs still have some work to do to be rid of the wild

Disclaimer: I am sorry for anything offensive or dirty said in the following... brandon im sorry if i break any rules but im steamed over this game...
the maple Wimps are still in this series only and ONLY because of the stupid F&^%ing refs... they arent calling anything on your cheap shot taking wussie team. I know that you will disagree toronto fans but there is definately a bias in the officiating against Toronto (anyone else agree?) for them to call a penalty shot on a play where Cechmanek accidently loses his stick if freakin rediculus...
phew.. im calming down now... it was nt as bad as i thought it would be.
still... FLYERS RULE, leafs suck

Amen brotha. Those ref's are ridiculous. GO FLYERS! and toronto fan's he's right, you have to admit the ref's are bias. Tucker should be charged for assault and battery for his "hits" on Roenick. Even my 9 year old brother thinks that Gagne rules.

Well, if the Flyers were going to win, it had to be tonight. The Leafs won't lose game 7.
As for the refs, and all the other excuses, guess what they are? Excuses. I think the refs have been pretty good in general in this series. They have been letting BOTH teams get away with stuff, and it is making for truly good hockey.

Matt Attallah
Well, after looking at some stats, I'm going to call the games...
Avs vs. Wild - They (Avs) are going to fall tonight. Not just because I'm a Detroit fan, but they can't get over the Wild. People may think that the Avs would have the experience needed for the game 7, but they are a little older with their team, and they are tired. The Wild have everything going for them. They are young, their guys are "clicking" at the right spot, and have the adrenaline advantage of beating the Colorado Avalanche. The home ice advantage won't help the Avs here. The Wild came back from a 3-1 deficit. I'll put my snow on the Wild!
Tor vs. Phi - Phi has the man power, but Tor has the goalie. This one is very-very close. They both are tired. Nether of them have the adrenaline advantage. Phi has not gone out of the quarter-finals in a few years, and it's at Phi's own home. I think that will be the deciding factor. I'm putting my U.S. currency on Phi.
St.L vs. Can - St. Louis has played with fire, and just got burned. They slacked off their 5th game, and allowed Van to come back. It serves St. Louis right. The thought they could take the Canes lightly, but remember last year? Wings and the Canes? Thanks to the Canes pulling it out, they got their ball rolling while stopping St. Louis' ball from rolling. I'll put my blue-box-blues on the Canes.
(P.S. This is just what I think. I don't mean to offend anyone. I dare you all to find humor in this!)
***Edit***
Well, my Tor vs. Phi prediction was correct...
22-04-2003 18:44
IMDWalrusGood news for Leafs fans. I ran a game simulation on my highly advanced computing device (NHL '97 for my Genesis) and the Leafs came out ahead of the Flyers, 4-1. The Leaf's Garth Snow had his shutout bid ruined by John Leclair, while everyone's favorite Maple Leaf, Wendel Clark, scored all four of Toronto's goals against Ron Hextall.
So what if the rosters are outdated? The important thing is that Toronto won...
22-04-2003 19:56
J Flex 188
LOL!.. that is a very high tech simulation game.. i agree.. i think i have an old copy of NHL 93/95 for my sega awhile ago.. .maybe i sold it hehe
freakin'... if the game only goes 60 minutes tonight, itll be the second longest playoff series in history.. or so my sources tell me (640 mojo AM)..
what are the leafs doing.. no effort right now.. that first powerplay was terrible..but we can bounce back.. we've done it already in this series..we can do it again

jonathan lallI'm surprised by Belfour. I'm not gonna blame him outright, but I think his style killed this game much like Cechmanek (sp?) did last one.
The Leafs really didn't get it going at all, starting with kruddy special teams and offense breaking up in the dump 'n chase.
Ouch.
22-04-2003 21:59
J Flex 188
I agree. belfour had been solid, and looked much more steady than cechmanke throughout the series
i think the early scares and two nothing goals kind of shook him..especially that near give away with svehla..
it was sad to see our defencemen begin to abandon him near the end of the game.. still letting in goals as well.
flyers shut down the SMR line remarkably well.. however, that 2 man forecheck is going to get hammered sooner or later.. or when someone plays neutral zone trapping.. leaving forwards caught behind..
22-04-2003 22:36
Hinkel Y.Well, we have to realize that it's hard on the players and especially the goalies... Bulfour is getting old... It's hard for double over time with the game next day... But that shouldn't be an excuse...
22-04-2003 23:38
The Lucas
This was one of the best (and longest) playoff series I have ever seen. Someone had to win (eventually) and I am glad it was the Flyers in a definitive victory. I would not blame Belfour, he had no defesive support. He may be old but he is one of my favorite goalies of all time, and he is usally great in Game 7. The Flyers are looking to take down another Canadian Team, The Senator. I should be sweet revenge for embarassment last year. Back To the original topic of the thread, Time to retire that Leafs flag.
GO FLYERS!!!!
PS: Avs-Wild game is close, 1-1 right now. Great Game!

IMDWalrusLet's see...with some Photoshopping, I could have Mr. Defense Minister claiming that Colorado is still in the playoffs...
I watched Game 7 in the Philly-Toronto series. Ouch. It's like Detroit's loss - I really can't defend Toronto. Belfour didn't play very well, but it's always impossible to win without scoring. Or defense. It's too bad that Toronto is out of the playoffs now. Random question: when was the last season when no Original Six teams made it to the conference semifinals?
Minnesota won, though, and that's the entire reason why I'm happy today. Having Colorado lose did make Detroit's loss much more bearable. Wouldn't a Minnesota-Anaheim conference final be great?
Let's keep this thread going until the playoffs are done. Next year, it looks like we'll need an NHL thread for the whole season.

Canucks are going to beat the Wild in 6

by the way even though he kinda had to, i was surprised to see roenick's meeting with tucker when shaking hands... a hug?! i was surprised they didn't dance right then and there but JR would have gotten suspended. anyway down with the sens. patrick lame is gonna choke.
GO FLYERS!

I guess so, but it shows how classy those two can be.. theyre both veterans, they know whats expected in a playoff.. no matter how much bad blood there was/will be.. respect and class are always important to them = )
