more from team 857.........
it's super cold in the UP but the arm is working. for the record this is just one of the arms from one of the robots..........
we built two of everything.......so four days from now one bot goes in the box and the other comes out of the shop and onto the playing field for more practice practice practice.
more arm stats......in its unlightened state, which you see here, it weighs about 50 pounds total. we can reach both goals from the center of the field and its pretty fast. the second joint is a pssive four bar type thing so it keeps it's position relative to the ground while the lower joint rotates.......works nice for control stuff.

Eric BareissI will spare you the awful profanities that escaped my mouth when I saw this. But suffice to say that this is the nicest arm that I have ever seen.
I was expecting good things from 857, but nothing quite like this

fredJust a question... How much does that arm weigh and how much is that in comparison to the rest of the robot. I remember last year, our robot had an arm sort of similar to that, but we had to take it off because it was way too top heavy. Not trying to get down on you guys though, that is a very impressive piece of engineering.
