Go to Post Dean's said it before, and it's been repeated many times, but it clearly hasn't sunk in yet, so I'll say really loudly. FIRST is not a science fair! - Karthik [more]

why thank you very much! no i defiently made them, with some help of a few mentors. i designed it and the drives mentor john gramlich had put it into inventor and gave it to the model shop guy gary pringle. with the help of mr. schlegal i had constucted many various prototypes. the orange is some rubber that was found laying around the xerox model shop and we used nylon rods pressed into the rubber, while the lexan is two pieces 3/8"(i believe).

goood. At first it almost looked too good to be milled. I was thinking stereolihthography, Z-printing, injection molding, and other scary thoughts like that. U sure thats lexan and not nylon or something liek that?

Very impressive!

Would you be willing to write up a white paper on how you made these? I know a lot of teams (including mine) would love to learn how.

Also, I'm curious how are you connecting the wheel to the shaft? Is it keyed?

i'll think about that some time. if you realy want me to do one pm me every so often and remind me. it has a aluminum hub that was cut out for a 5/8" key way that goes with our shaft so we can change out many diffrent kind of wheels...

I LOVE THEM.

the colors are soooooo sweet. It kinda makes me wish that we would have done red and black ones on our bot.

1 question: how much do they weigh?

Start and company and manufacture them for other team?!

they are for driving. instead of a 5th wheel this year we designed and built those omni wheels for turning in high gear.
