This is how Team 67 gets around to competitions.

do you all get a new truck every year or was this a new 1 time thing.... i wished Bausch and Lomb made cars.......

sanddragCall me jealous if you want but I think that is just plain absurd. Money can be spent for so many better things than that. Do you know how many teams you could start with that kind of money? Or how about some scholarships? I know HOT 67 may not have control over what their sponsor gives them but outlandish spending, to me, doesn't seem like one of the ideals of FIRST.
I don't disagree that a trailer for your stuff is a nice thing to have and of course you need a vehicle to pull it around but the same purpose could have been served with much fewer dollars spent.

HOT was staying at the same hotel as us, so I got to take a peek in while waiting to leave Thursday. They could sell it and feed a third-world country.
(Maybe that's a little extreme...)
It's crazy nice though. Is anyone actually allowed to ride in it?

I seriously doubt they actually paid for the H2 with team money. If it's anything like TechnoKats have been, they are on "permanent loan" to the team. Since its GM they probably have dozens of these things just sitting around. I noticed this year the TechnoKats have a new trailer and a new truck which I'm sure they didn't use team money to buy. Chances are the school took back the bigger trailer and traded, and the truck (since it's a Chevy) was once a test vehicle that's no longer in use....
This is all just a guess, but its' probably pretty close to being true.

Its nice it definiately drew my attention at the Great Lakes Regional, but the old hummers are soo much nicer.

Eric BareissComing from a GM sponsored team (64) I kinda know what is going on:
GM has lots of cars sitting around that no one uses, for testing purposes. They are a car company. They don't go out and buy these cars for their teams. The teams don't get to keep the cars and certainly cannot sell them. It's just for fun.
If you were GM and you had a couple of teams wouldn't you want to make them look good. They do stuff like this so people will be impressed and jealous. I guess it worked huh?

We use the truck/trailer to transport not only all of our parts, but things for other teams too, especially to nationals. And as for the Hummer, yes, it is partially for GM bragging purposes, but it also carries quite a large number of students, and we do use it for that purpose. I'm not sure whether the new Hummer and trailer were paid for by HOT or GM money. I apologize if posting this picture offended anyone, it is just a new thing this year that we're all really proud of.

) and that you should be proud of the H2 and the fact that you're backed by a huge corporation as GM.

Very nice car.
My only gripe with hummers is the fuel economy thing, but if you're gonna actually need the power anyway, you might as well get it with style, eh?
Now for some spinners!

Allison KI think it's awesome that they have that much team spirit. Of course, this is comming from another GM team member (226), so maybe its just that I've been GM brainwashed (All in light fun and completely not seriously, of course).

aaronbr28040I just have one thing to say "that is frickin awesome". I dont know if i'm the only one but for some reason when i saw HOT and wheels in the same thread I definately expected to see a hot wheels car lol. All my team has is a short bus that we get from the school..........maybe I'll post pics sometime later, I'm sure everybody would get a good laugh out of that (the first aid kit inside says FIRST (aid) Team 900 from when we forgot our kit for a competition one year). When I saw the picture my mouth definately dropped and I was drooling. Anyways, good luck to your team.

sburroJust as a side note:
Gm I believe gave away a bunch of electric powered street legal golf carts to non-profit organizations. This was to meet the new federal law about having so many electric vehicles on the road. My college has two of these.

sanddragI was not in any way offended by the picture. All I'm saying is that there is no such thing as a free lunch so whoever is paying for it gets to decide how many people it serves.
I don't disagree one bit that it is great to have such a big sponsor who gives you such cool stuff, and I don't disagree that the team may have no control over the gifts of their sponsor, but as I said, the value in those vehicles could be put to better use.
