237 Bottle Drive

237 sure can pick a beautiful day for a bottle drive. What's a little thunder, lightning and rain, when your trying to raise money.

We didn't do as well as previous years but there was a severe weather watch in effect. That's the problem when you plan fundraisers weeks in advance, especially one's where you're outdoors. It's nothing but a big gamble. The storm was nice enough to hold off until the last 20 minutes then it started downpouring hard. The wind came up quick and there was severe lightning. We got soaked.........actually REALLY soaked as we packed everything up. It took two days for the drivers seat of my Camry to dry out, not from leaving the windows open, but from me when I got in the car to leave. When I got home I also found out there was a tornado watch in effect.

I also want to add that not only did we have people drop off bottles in the parking lot where we were (front corner of local grocery store lot) but we also picked up bottles locally from people who couldn't or didn't want to go to the lot. We advertised a phone number they could call and we'd arrange pick up. All in all I think we did OK when you factor in the weather.
