2005 Indian

Our animation team is already working on the new Indian for next year because they didn't have enough time this year. Its looking better every year.

Looks Very nice... i am not sure if animators are allowed to use any other software other than 3d Studio Max. if yes, was the character completed using Poser?... the character is very well defined and looks creative...

Yeah I believe it was with Max - but I'll ask him. I think he just made small modifications to the original Indian. Also added in the grass that we had for 2004 but didn't use.

I'm pretty sure that you can use other software as well... as long as the primary program used in animating and rendering is 3d Studio Max (if I'm not mistaken) but you can use other programs for the modelling I believe.

I thought the animation had to be completed in a certain time frame, like the robot.

Thats true because you can't really complete the animation until the game has been announced. Right now they are just trying to get the Indian looking as good as they can because the Indian itself just takes so long.

Animators can use whatever software they want, but they're encouraged to use 3D Studio Max.

I can't find that in the rules (for last year of course, they may change this year). The closest I've found is this:
Quote:
Using graphic imagery and animation developed with 3ds max (as well as other Autodesk products if you wish), your animation should be an informative and clearly focused 30-second spot that supports your message of what FIRST means to your team.
