It's for real

Will post the pics of the real thing next week, glad you like it. Keenan on the drive team is really fantastic in the modeling. Final parts are being cut right now.

How much does inventor say it weighs?

The prototype in the other pictures weighs in around 60 lbs with the battery, the new real one should actually be lighter.

We like to call the new gearbox/drive system - "Sharky's Revenge"

How much in the way of strucutral durability was sacraficed for the sake of logo-ization? It's cool, but aren't you concerned about what will happen when it takes a hit?

That would concern me as well, but for imagery, thumbs-up!! I like the sharks cut into your chassis, kinda reminds me of the rats we put all over our robot last year...

I expect we will lose at least 1 logo shark by then end of the season, they don't serve any strutural purpose. All the cut pieces are from 1/4" 6061 Al. Battle damage is pretty cool in my opinion. If someone smashes in the rear bumper, well about 30 seconds or less a new one goes on. If we smash all the spares then ..... No Bumpers. The beauty of making all the parts out of a big plate is that the waterjet makes exact spares at the same time as it makes the originals!

The drive modules are strengthened by the 2" mounting tubes as well as the shafts in the wheels. The 2" tubes are essentially an extension of the tubular chassis. All in all it ends up very strong yet light.

As for taking a hit, I think 'Sharky's Revenge' is ready for Rock'em Sock'em Robots.
