1675 Teaser #2

This is the underside of our robot...any ideas yet? All will be revealed on Sunday at the Team 537 pre-ship competition.

That appears to be a turret with a gear mounted to it just waiting for chain to be run around it from the pneumatic rotary actuator. I bet you will have an arm that is rotated by that setup.

I would say electric motor where did the actuator come from ,those take too much air to use. And your welding with oxy acytlene? Is at best sketchy. Not the welds actual workman ship bu the parts that were welded.

"Too much" is subjective. There are certainly advantages to both methods... perhaps this team found that pneumatics is a better solution for their particular application.

One thing I'm looking at is that your drive chains are not straight. It will make life easier down the line if you fix this now. Just a suggestion.

The chains are straight, don't worry. The perspective of the picture just makes it look like they aren't.

As far as the welds are concerned, lets just say that last night they were given an...how should I say..."unexpected" test and they they are doing just fine.
