Woodie gave a great "pick me" speach at Friday morning's awards ceremony. Is it me, or is this year's setup a whole lot fancier than in the past?

That set up does look much fancier than before, but was it set up at the same place as last year? I believe it was the Einstein field on the far side of the dome. The banners are much nicer and clearly spell out the sponsors.
I really appreciate the fact that FIRST has gotten together and recognized the international aspect of the competition. Having the flags in the background was a very thoughtful touch. Any thoughts about the content of his speech? I am interested to hear if there are any common themes compared to last year's speech by Dean about the state of technological competition in the United States as opposed to Asia. Did they also have the same amazing trumpeter as before?
Just wishing I was there =P Though I do know our Vice-Principal and former Director of FIRST in Canada, Mr. Breadner is there right now. Seems kind of fishy to me, no? =D

Brandon MartusThe fields are set up just like last year. Theres a VEX field behind Einstein now.
The trumpeter played this morning, (or so I heard). I didn't get to hear, but heard about it.

Ah yes, I recall last year running to the stands from the pit just to make sure I was able to hear at least the Canadian anthem on Saturday after missing it the day before. I hope the system is working better this year, or will have a chance to work better. Are the VEX teams as international as the FLL teams or are they from the US? Seems logical for the first run, but if they are that would be great =).
Thanks for the info Brandon, at least I can sort of picture the set up. I have photographs from last year's champ's staring me in the face right now

I don't see a ramp on that stage. Dean must be giving his speech on foot like he did at the kickoff.
