One has to guess that there will be some type of tread on there since metal cannot touch the carpet. Probably for some type of crab drive.
Looks pretty sweet. Good work guys.

greencactus3wow..... if thats not for a pulley/track design, that is one beefy (outer perimeter
) wheel.
but why? hmm... it seems there wouldnt need to be quite as much material for a normal wheel or pulley. and the pop rivet holes??
and shiney..... and the axle..... its a stub.. no need for shaft collars then?
and uh. why 5spoke wheel+6 spoke sprocket? i woulda did the same spoke.
oh well. i want that sprocket tho,

Stephen Kowskii have no idea what that is, but i want one....

AlekatWait wait wait, wieght? I know I can just see the pounds rolling by for my team's robot, but this seems rather big for a driving wheel.

i_am_DougOMG ARE THOSE SPINNERS?! Nicely done
Now all you need is airbags and a lowrider robot, then you got a nice ride.

I want one.....
Looks like a chrome IFI wheel to me

You know how it is guys, IFI's "Bid Pimpin' " but Wildstangs just Big-ger Pimpin'
Looks great guys, I especially like the work done to the sprocket and the sides of the wheel, Geeze you can even see a reflection of the sprocket in that chrome work looks great guys.

One note: the device has not been chromed - it's aluminum that Phil (a very determined student) spent a good amount of time polishing up.

Arefin likes shinny things. =)
... god knows what Wildstang is planning on doing.

Those look very nice. Its amazing what you can do with polishing compound.

Me wantee!!
Very impressive. I'm curious what the diameter is...my guess is no smaller than 8", but its difficult to judge. If so (and based on the sprocket), I'm guessing this is NOT a road wheel simply because it wouldn't be conducive to crab and WildStang would NEVER make a standard drive
Can't wait to see it up here in Milwaukee!

I think that this "device" is part of Wildstang's shooter mechanism.

not sure if anyone else did this...
but i counted out the sides and its 21... just like IFI's wheels =X

amos22945 tooth sprocket its prolly gon na have some torque
24-01-2006 12:29
Mr.DLooks like it could be part of your pit display showing how to make a tank wheel with a sprocket and applying chrome to it.

i'm gonna say drive wheel, because of the sprocket. i think that unless the connecting sprocket is either very large, or spinning at a very high speed, this sprocket is for gearing down. and it looks a #25 sprocket to me, which would put the wheel dia. around 6".

An intake device??
A device for transfering balls to a shooting mechanism?
A device for driving a belt to do something within the robot?
As Dave gave away, it IS a device!
After seeing what WildStang has put together for past competitions, guessing what they are using this "device" for is just as fruitless as trying to make heads or tails of the game design committee's cryptic clue!
Sweet looking "device" Dave! Can't wait to see what it is for!
