They are six inches, I believe, same as our drive wheels, so not that small. We had no trouble with the wheels demolishing balls though. There isnt a whole lot of compression on them.

There is a drawing here... and they are soft rubber, so there is NO problem tearing up the balls

go to McMaster and type in 2469k2, would that work? or would i rip up in place?

I would use the keyed one, or add a setscrew for each shaft, but yeah... That would probably work quite well
