from what i can tell they will have some ball storage in the bottom of the bot, and then the "chimney" will take balls out of hopper on the bottom.

correct me if I guessed wrong.

I know that the shell and some guts are missing but how top heavy is that impressive piece of machinery?

Just out of curiousity, what are the front omnis for. Chances are this is probably a totally stupid question, but wouldn't having 4 contact points already render them useless?

How did you determine you need two fisher price motors to drive the conveyor/lift?

I was about to ask the same thing... seems like overkill. Unless, they're using the simple solution so that they can have belts on two sides without any gears, chains, etc.

don't have a lot of time......but i'll answer some of the questions.

is it top-heavy?
the shooter and turret combo weigh 16lbs. heavy? yes, prohibitively heavy, obviously not!

why omni casters? they are powered, and they have less scrubbing friction that pneumatic tires.....it is a nice middle ground. those omni casters still provide tons of forward motive force!!!!!

why two fp motors on the tube? we run both belt independently depending on the particular operation at hand. sometimes we're taking balls up, sometimes we're taking balls out, and sometimes we're just spinning them in the tube.

the caption on this photo says SOME of our major components. this is a 2/3 robot.

thanks for the comments.

maybe im going crazy, but i think you have left some tubing out on that big square....i think you were asking for pictures earlier this season of CD in 2002....hmm that big square looks strangely familiar.....i dunno. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
