Very interesting looking bot. Care to elaborate on its functions and specs?

Our shooter (and corner goal spitter) are both in the blue sectiion of our robot

You can just see the top of our double wheel shooter

Feel free to ask any other questions.

This doesn't completely clarify since the blue portion goes from the lower part of the robot the upper part. You say "corner goal spitter" so I think maybe it's lower. But you say we can see the top wheel of the shooter, and the only other wheel I can find is at the top. Another picture would be appreciated, but if you're too busy it is quite understandable at this point.
Hope to play with you guys at Davis!

The shooter wheel is what you see sticking out from behind the upper left corner of the white spiral staircase. Viewed from this angle, the balls will be shot out to the right.

The balls are picked up from the floor at the bottom of the yellow elevator. They are lifted up and dumped in the top of the ramp. (The top is open, so that it can receive balls from the human player too.) At the bottom of the ramp, a conveyor carries the balls to the left, and up to the shooter, or it can be reversed to spit the balls out toward the right, into a corner goal. The time from a ball being picked up to being shot is approximately 4 seconds.

Sorry, were going to the Arizona regional this year instead of to Davis.

Would you mind sharing what you used for your ball sweeper conveyor material? It doesn't show in this pic.

Nice bot. Glad you're not coming to the PNW. We have the Cheesy Poofs coming -- that's bad enough.

I really dig the overall design of this one. Good job on another solid robot. Hope that everything works as well as we all hope it does. I still dont fully understand the ball spitting. Do the balls come out where they get sucked in or somewhere on the blue section? Still, i want to emphasize the really good design i see in this one. Additionally, maybe its just me but it looks pretty hard to load by way of human....

Cool Robot you guys!

So we basically pick the balls up with PVC rollers driven by 1 fisher price motor then they are brought up with belting (I'm not exactly sure the type it is) and then dropped into the spiral. Then the balls just go through the spiral and end at a series of belts that are driven by another fisher price motor to either be ejected into the small goals or brought up to the shooter. The shooter is powered by the big CIM and uses two parallel 8" Skyway wheels to shoot the balls. The drive train is just 6 pneumatic tires. We are also using the camera and a yaw rate sensor which you can't really see. If you have any other questions or want to see more pix let me know.

Yeah. That is definitely not the preferred method of loading. It's not a very large target for an HP to hit.

so how many balls can this beast hold? I'm surprised to see so many bots with the spiral helix decision and i love it!

Somewhere around 20 in the spiral, with another two or three or maybe four in the loader.

The way the spitter works (I was on the shooter design team, which also did the spitter/loader): the balls come out of the spiral into the blue part. If you look at Picture 2, on one corner you see a flat blue surface with a motor and some belting around it. The balls come out onto that and the belt grabs them and either pulls them up the back of the robot to the shooter (powered by 1 big CIM in the low front), which releases them with a backspin, or pulls them out the front of the robot, right under the shooter power motor.

For the loader belting, I think it came from McMaster. I'm not exactly sure what type it is though.

I've noticed that several teams are using the same type of belt, I know we are. I'm not sure what the part number is, but I do know that we purchased it from McMaster-Carr.
