Here is a picture of the amazing play between 195 and 968. 195 used their superb ball collecting capabilities to feed balls to their alliance partners... the first time I had ever seen this tactic used. Dave Lavery commented that this particular tactic was one of the things that the FIRST Game Design Committee and Woodie Flowers had personally wanted to see happen from the very beginning.

That was definitely an example of great teamwork and a good strategy.
Though, does anyone have pictures of 968 making the halfcourt shots?

Tim DellesThis was amazing. If you didn't get to see the finals on Newton I very strongly suggest watching them.

This play was the most exciting part of my FIRST career. It was genious and perfectly executed by both 968's and our drivers.

Agreed. I'm so happy that the Curie Finals (What I was originally watching) finished before the Newton Finals (What I switched to).
There are some must see matches on Newton

That alliance was absolutely brilliant, even if Archimedes did manage to top them. The "A-Bomb" as it has been dubbed was one of the most exciting plays all year. Not to mention 25 helping 968 get back up after they (almost) tipped off the ramp during the Newton finals, the adaptability of their autonomous strategies, their fluid transitions from offense to defense and back, etc.
If 195's drive train isn't running at reduced capacity during the Einstein finals, these guys are wearing gold medals. Only if 968 wasn't a west coast team, and the other 2 east coasters, then we might see them reunited at an off-season (IRI get-together?
). Although with how amazingly they performed, I doubt anyone would let them select eachother again.

Seeing that on the Einstein field, I can honestly say that was one of the most epic plays ever seen in a FIRST championship. My hat goes off to that alliance for their brilliant alliance selection.
By the way, what was 968's drive system? It looked similar to the poofs, but I only saw it from the stands.

That is a strategy I had in my head, but knew was not worth the risk in our case of trying to pull it off. It takes extreme strategy planning and execution to pull it off, I was not expecting to see it done on the field. Stunning.

Tom, I still wish we had gotten "robot sex" to work at the scrimmage. That would have been amazing, it was incredible to watch it finally happen, and in the finals no less.

Dan PetrovicIt was incredible when they first did it in the Semi Finals match 2. That was actually an idea I had a few weeks ago. It got so excited when they used it.
That match was definately my favorite.

Eric ScheuingThat's pretty sweet.
I'm pretty sure we wanted to do that at UTC, but didn't want to because we didn't want to lose the match.

ImajieWe were going to save it for Einstein, but after losing the first semifinal, the drivers decided to bring it out then instead of risk losing, it was awesome to see it work.

jackie HaWe would also like to thank team 25 for an awsome alliance as well. Seeing this move being pulled off from the sidelines was just plain cool. Also seeing peoples faces when it was done was flat out funny... I know that no one on our team knew that the "A-Bomb" was even possible. Our advisor's face was in awe the entire time. that was an awsome match.

JB987It was indeed a cool thing to see 195 feed 968...team 987 also used the same move at the Phoenix regional and picked up 7-8 balls in just a few seconds...I will try to find the video of the operation and have it posted soon. Of course our match win didn't lead to a Division title...congratulations 25, 968 and 195!
