2006 Championship Fish-eye

I thought this picture was really neat; perfect for one of those FIRST posters that keep popping up here recently...

Now THAT is cool!

It looks like the finals are on Einstein, and most of the other fields are almost done being broken down.

Super awesome photography!

I see a patch of Green and a patch of Pink...I'm guessing MOE and 233

It's a really cool picture. I did you take it with the actual lens or photo shop?

Naw. Thunderchickens were over on the right side, just in front of what seems to be Pink. I think MOE is on the far left, out by Galileo.

I believe the real question we need to ask ourselves is not how many FIRST teams can we correctly identify. It is the age old question... How many CD'ers can you correctly identify.

EDIT: Don't worry, I already found WALDO

Its not really warped, its just that the correct viewing distance is about 2" from your screen!

Haha I'll have to make one out of this a bit later.

I spy #365 MOE over in the far left, and a tri-color block in the center right: #33 Killer Bees (yellow), #217 Thunderchickens (green) and #233 The Pink Team.

Can you say "sneaking past security"?

I wanted sooooooo badly to get a shot like this but security stopped me every time!

Thanks everyone for the comments!

To assist in locating teams I have uploaded the original scan (yes, we do still use film occasionally ) to our website at http://marsbot.org/files/01740012.jpg

Our photo gallery is currently being updated with pictures from championships, but there are some more overhead shots and some cool shots from the field (not only our team in the photos - be sure to check out page 2). The gallery can be found here.

That is what the media pass is for...

this shot makes for an emotional one.

for one thing now the other side has emptied and come over to Einstein. The matches on the other side were unbelievable and now they are gone, the seats filled are now emptied and green, the fields broken down - already -

where this shot is taken from also shows the tier, I think, that is filled to the brim with teams and supporters who did the wave - one wave after another during our period of waiting - I was below watching -

- the refs are tired and still keep it going, the judges, the volunteers - they still keep it going - over a year's worth of planning and Herculean effort seen through this lens

Well, at least somebody got the shot. Once again, I'm extremely jealous.

the original is very cool. Would make a great 2000 piece jigsaw puzzel!

BTW, did you photoshop the brightness of the crowd - the latitude of the image is very good - usually the crowd is dark or the field is washed out. Im wondering if you tweaked the image to get the brightness more balanced?

What film did you use? (film speed?)

You can pretty much make out the yellow 1023 dots on our back (in the first floor, upper part of the section in front of the blue alliance).

And right in front of you is the small representation of the Bobcats, and the FEDS are right behind. If you look behind the right side of the ring of flags, you can also see our whole alliance trying to fix one of the robots.

I honestly can't find Waldo though. I see a lot of team 40, and I think I see one Waldo, but not a section of them.

And by one of the robots he means the 177 bot. I think I would be wandering on the field between the area of that 177 robot, and the gray curtain at this point in time, had it been a few matches later, or a little earlier I would probably be in the picture.

My dad Ed says that he shot 100asa film at 200. He didn't edit the picture at all. Maybe Tim did I'm not sure.

The photo is exactly how it came from those Costco 1 Hour Photo CDs you let me borrow. No touch-ups required, but I might play around with it some in the future (as I said beneath the picture, this would make a great poster).

Yes, there was a balloon operator who was sitting in the middle of MOE. He came and sat in the middle of our group before the Parade of the Division Winners began. A coordinator came over and was talking with him:

"Now, you know how to set the balloon off?"
The operator looked at the battery he was holding and the loose wire running down from the balloon to his hand.
"Yes."
"Okay. First you'll hear the confetti cannons and see the streamers coming down, then you set off the balloon."
"Okay."

So we kind of knew what was coming, cause you could see the confetti inside the balloon he was going to pop.

The coordinator left, and the balloon operator sat back and was listening to his MP3 player. I'm not sure if he started to doze off or not, but after the marching bands' 3rd or 4th loud drumbeat to start the parade, he set the balloon off thinking the drumbeats were actually the confetti cannons.

I don't think he will want that job again next year, cause all that aluminum confetti pretty much fell straight down on top of him, and he was brushing it out of his hair for most of the finals.

That would be neat to make into a poster. Also somebody said it would make a good puzzle maybe you could do that too. That would be pretty cool
