ouch
the only time ive had a second degree burn was a size of a 5/32 allen wrench...actually it was that, that burnt me and that hurt alot, get some sleep and put it in some water, it will sting for the first few seconds, but it feels alot better after the stinging.
26-05-2006 11:06
Graham DonaldsonYah, burns aren't fun. I got one (high 2nd, low 3rd) from a car cigarette lighter. Ouch. Little black rings around it... man. The burn was about the size of a dime. I know how you feel. Good luck with it.

Aw geez, Tytus, what did you do this time? This is like your second or third burn you got. Please be careful.

OWWWWWWW!!! I got a 2nd degree burn from touching a halogen lamp while I was asleep, but that was nothing compared to this!

ooo potato gun, is that what you ment by "being dumb"...wait so you use propane?, i prefer air pressure, but that means potatoes can blow up in your face

ChuckDickersonOUCH! That looks really painful! Sorry you got such a nasty burn. I hope it heals soon and doesn't scar too badly.
On the up side, if infection sets in too badly just tell the doctors to go ahead and cut it off. You know plenty of folks that would jump at the chance to make you a new robotic arm!
Just curious, after you told the doctors in the emergency room what happened, exactly how long did it take before the cops showed up and started to harass you?
Stay safe and get well soon!
26-05-2006 14:19
SwampmonkeyAnd I thought for sure that we would see some sort of Terminator-like alloy under the top layer of your skin.
The only great thing that came out of this was seeing Tytus drugged in the emergency room last night, I so wish I had a camera.

oh man Tytus !! that looks so painful !!!
I hope it gets better soon! that'd be awful to have you hand all bandaged up for your birthday
(however I would love to hear any interesting stories of tytus drugged, swampmonkey)

Heh, reminds me of the time that I burned my hand on a heat gun. Had a pretty ring shaped scar for a while.

Aww Tytus, I know how much it sucks to have a second degree burn. The first time I came down to Florida for college visits, I got a second degree burn from the SUN (a five hour drive from Miami to Gainesville in a convertible = BAD NEWS for redheads). Ok, maybe it didn't look quite as bad as yours, but my skin on all of my upper chest area and shoulders fell off after about a week. The blistering and cracking was extremely painful.
Somehow it doesn't surprise me that this happened to you though. *Remembers watching you burn the hair off your arm with Arefin's lighter*
Hope you feel better soon. I have some extra burn cream left over if you want me to send it....

Hmm... this accident wasn't funny at all. This happened around 9:00 p.m. last night. Tytus got into his truck right after the incident and drove right away to the hospital while I was chasing right behind him. After we got there we waited for about 20 minutes. I had to go yell at the lady in order to get tytus's paperwork done so he could be taken care of right away. His parents, Andrew Rudolph and Zach from his team showed up to the hospital as well.
... the sad part is... I am making this post sitting on tytus's computer right now while he is in the backyard getting the potato gun ready for tonight. There will only be one tytus we will ever meet... but this time tytus took the precaution to use co2... not gasoline.
26-05-2006 17:42
Tristan LallI'm surprised that nobody's brought up that incident with the waterjet....
(Stop hurting yourself!)

kio_chan176OUCH! I've never had serious burns to display but that looks like it hurts a lot. Ow!

Tytus, you weren't using your own potato gun, were you? last week it was all CO2 because you didn't want to be burned. I take it you don't want me to post the pics/videos of your gun any time soon then?
Why is it that I see a picture of an injury, and read the word "Burn" the first thing that comes to my mind is "Tytus"

Tytus, I hope you fell better soon and it heals with as little pain as possible.
Worst burn I ever got was from coffee I spilled. It was only a first degree burn covering my hand but it was painful enough. The skin on my hand was red for almost two weeks.

I can say from experience that injuries acquired from carlessness are not fun. Not that I'm saying Tytus wasnt being careful, but I had an awful drill press experience that could have been avoided. Pelan was there...chuck key...chain...mangled fingers. not pretty. Still swells up every time i go bowling...
Please, everyone- Before operating equipment and machinery, BE SURE you know how to use it properly, and that a mentor has watched you use it.

Wow. That really sucks. 2nd degres are supposed to be much more painful than 1st and 3rd becuase the nerve endings aren't burned away in a 2nd degree like they are in a 3rd. What are having you do to make it heal?

Man, that will probably leave a mark for the rest of your life. Take care.

PS: Thank you for posting, for one thing a lot of safety warnings lack are images of results of a lack of safety consciousness. This should be actually presented at every competition next year.

katiyeh07I'd like to let you know that today in Visual Arts we had to use a blowtorch to make beads with, and I refused to simply because I now have a ridiculous fear that it's going to fall onto my arm and melt my skin off.
I hope your arm/hand heals back to normal.

Dude!
I would be remiss if I didn't say something here. That little voice in your head is not Ari telling you to keep going. It is your guardian angel telling you to stop! Listen to the little voice, heed the advice. We need you around for a while. I know a guy who had a can of charcoal lighter blow up in his hands. He survived but many of the muscles in his forearms did not. Now he has limited movement in both wrists and both elbows plus some of his fingers. Think about what he goes through just to perform daily (and personal) tasks.

Triple Bcareful tytus, FIRST would not be the same w/o you.

I got a 1st degree burn yesterday. At my new job, I use weed eaters quite a bit, well the "hood" came off the weed eater and the muffler scortched me fore arm. It hurt....
