i bought a tonka bulldozer (for 2$ it was in very bad shape) and pull off the tracks i plan to put them on a vex robot but the rubber is very stiff how can i soften them up

NitroxextremeYou will need to find out what kind of rubber that is and search for some type of reconditioner.
I know that there is a product out there called "303 aerospace protectant". I use it on the rubber seals on my car, it makes them more flexible. Im not sure if it will work for you application though.

sanddragI've heard of Simple Green being used to soften RC Car tires. I don't know if the same would apply for this.

I recall WD-40 being a recommended item for softening tire tread in my R/C truck days (at the expense of tread wear, lest you think there was a freebie there).

StuartIve heard that rubbing alchol works for softening rubber.

Burris Quicktime #2 - sold here at Comet Kart Sales is a spray used in go-kart racing to soften tires and achieve improved traction. For $7, it's worth a try.
From what I've read, this sort of softener is deemed illegal in some go-karting competitions, so it must work.
