FRC 1726 suspension

The guys have been playing with the "old" robot, Steve had an idea to get the thing to drive a bit better on uneven surfaces. The suspension on one rear wheel allows the weight to be more evenly distributed. This is a hasty prototype, not meant for real world use.

(bonus points to whomever can name the pinball machine in the background, this is our living room)

That looks cool! How does it work? Has it helped, or is having a suspension on only 1 wheel not enough?

It works pretty good! Sticking suspension on the one back wheel gives the two front drive wheels somewhat even pressure. Before it was way out of wack, and going over uneven floors made it even worse. Now it appears that it can keep both drive wheels firmly planted at all times.

The best part is that we only had to drill one hole in the robot.

Well that depends on your perspective.
Sometimes drilling holes is a good thing.

If you've seen the entire bot you would know it already has enough holes. (that's what happens when you are 40 punds overeight 3 days before ship date)
