Top View of Shaft Drive

Top view of half of a shaft driven system I have been working on. It is fairly light. Currently it weighs about 13 lbs per side. It could still be lighter as there are plenty of places that weight can still be removed.
This drawing is still missing the small detail type parts like spacers and shaft collars.

wow...pretty nice work

we have an old crab drive in our shop that utilizes the same kind of idea with the bevel gears....be careful with these is my only criticism....the crab drive we have no longer functions because of the flex of those long shafts..the gears skip....looks great though

Looks great. I've been wondering about something like that for a while. How's it working? Is it beyond the drawing phase into a protoype yet? Keep us posted, I think something like this would be great if it is light enough and can handle all the stresses of competition. JH
