new battery mount

Well, people started slamming battery mounting system we have been using the last four years and warned us about judges who never said it was a problem. We decided that it was time to for a change and avoid a possible issue. Event though we think it is better to mount the Anderson to the lip that is on the battery and avoid human contact of the cables during battery change outs, we went with the floppy connection that we have to stick our hand in to connect. We did however come up with a slick lock down mechanism, a bicycle quick release!

That battery clamp is awesome!! Could you please show more pictures of how it works? Also, very nice job of keeping the wiring under control. Even though it's probably a prototype its always a good idea to have tidy wiring. Easy to diagnose problems.

Fredi,
Looks good. I caution teams about severely bending the #6 near the Anderson connector. The sharp bends close in, can cause individual strands to break or pull out. I suggest 1" minimum bend radius when close to the connector.

Working in the industry in place that makes connectors and cable assemblies, and more specifically in a cable engineering department, I can respect and second that suggestion!!!

All cable has a spec sheet with a minumum bending requirement that should be followed as closely as possible.

I'll see if I can pull some data up for the specific type of cable used on the Anderson quick disconnect if I can.

Brilliant use of the butterfly clip for fast release! I may take a page out of your book on that one.

Very cool idea. I'm liking the clamp a lot!

good design, but couldn't you just use a couple pieces of angle, long, thin bolts and Velcro tie down straps and save a pound or so

The clamp is aluminum and weighs almost nothing and the angle is fiberglass and weights almost nothing. I think velcro can come loose, thin bolts can bend. If you have done before then I guess ours is overbuilt.
