Go to Post FIRST is like riding a bike. At first it may seem hard and confusing, but after a few tries you get the hang of it and its smooth sailing from then on out. - Tom Bottiglieri [more]

Do you plan to pick up 2 robots with this design, or also have the option to pick up only 1?

Chris

edit: sorry, just found this same question asked elsewhere, (with another descussion of the same pic ) this thread can be killed.

there will be one lift on each side, we can lift 2 or just 1.

How can you lift just one? It is purely a cantilever right? So, you've got ~120 pounds hanging out on one side of your robot. Your robot weighs ~120 lbs. What keeps it from falling over, if you don't have another ~120 lbs on the other side?

I have the same question about the cantilever... but some very nice machining!

Have you considered rotating the wheelbase 90 degrees so you can drive into alliance partners to pick them up?

That is really cool... but i still like our concept better.
note i said concept and not design... unfortunately.

there are outriggers in the works which will allow for lifting one at a time.

we thought about the best way to pick up robots and our wheel orientation, and we came up with just being able to park and have the others drive on us.

As stated in the post above yours, they are going to have outriggers to stabilize the robot.

We tested it with about 120lbs, and it lifted marvelously. Judging by how it was able to lift that amount, we don't forsee any problems with robots that will approach 150lbs with the battery, bumpers etc...

ANOTHER VIDEO SOON TO COME
