SuperJakeClearly they work in a really dangerous area... they have just moved on from riding bikes (you remove the front tire to keep it from getting stolen) to driving cars and they don't want the car to get stolen.
This is the only explanation.

Yes, the rim was a red herring. I literally downloaded the old picture and reposted it.
It was fun to see you all react to it, though.
