When I was the extra pit crew person waiting for one of 525's finals matches, I couldn't resist this photo opportunity.

WoeMy husband and I were just talking about this round this morning. Wow, wow, wow! I am so glad you got a picture. To me, this was FIRST at its absolute best. Could we get a copy with a higher resolution for our scrap book and website?

just looking at that picture makes me uncomfortable. i dont want to think about what would happen to me if i drove the robot off of a ramp. the robot is pretty robust and would surive. i'm not so durable

That was an awesome match, I was watching from the side. "Come on 1094, just drive a little harder! Nooo they bottomed out!! Oh here comes 830, yeah they're good pushers, they'll push em on! NO WAIT DONT GO TOO FAR!! HEY I think they can balance!! OOoohhhhhhh!!!"
One of the most exciting ramp/lifter moments all day, close with the first time 1625 showed their double lifter !
03-05-2007 12:19 PM
kurttruk820What amazed all three of our teams was 830's low-end torque... the final "push" broke all four zip ties that held on 2177's top platform. You can see the offset under the "0" in 830.
830 and 1094 -- great job, we loved working with you!

Not to toot a certain company's horn, but.....
830 was sporting two (2) Andy-Mark servo transmissions. No custom gearbox. AM is HQS (high quality stuff)
ON another note, its good to see my old team finally get out of the quarterfinals. Congrats to this alliance for pulling the upset. How many bonus points were given? 15 and 15?
Great picture. It is now my desktop background.
03-05-2007 07:07 PM
Lisa PerezYup, 15 and 15.
I couldn't make it to the event, so I was watching the webcast. Since the frames per second was lower, I went from seeing my team on the other side of the field to on the ramp. Gave my heart quite a jump...
It was definitely great to see us make it to the semis. Thanks for being great alliance partners, 2177 and 1094!

Robyn 2177this picture is hilarious, I loved our Alliance! This match was nothing short of amazing, we loved working with you 1094 and 830!! Keep in touch :-)

Jon StratisThat was by far the most gut-wrenching moment of the entire day - i thought for sure 1094 was gonna fall and 830 wasn't going to be high enough! It was an awesome alliance - way to go guys!
(If you want to see the three matches we played in the quarter finals, check out http://www.therobettes.com/index.php...g2_itemId=1060, and check our website over the next few weeks for all the rest of the video we took at the competition!)

Daniel_LaFleurThat has got to be one of the scariest pictures I've ever seen here on CD.
Great job

I have to say, that was definitely one of the most exciting matches I've ever coached. We were all the way on the other side of the field with under 30 seconds left to play. I saw 1094 was having trouble getting up 2177's ramp, and told Jon, our driver: "Come back and give them a push!". Of course, Jon's idea of a "push" was to hit them at full speed in high gear, but, it did get the job done. It certainly made for an exciting finish!
Anyways, I'd also like to thank our alliance partners (2177 and 1094) for one of the most exciting set of elimination matches I've played in. It truly was a team effort from all of us, and that's something you don't see too often. You guys were great, and I hope to see you all again sometime.

03-07-2007 03:52 PM
Rachel2177haha thats awesome someone got a picture of it, i could only watch from the stands and all i saw were the refs laughing, but considering our entire trip to St. Louis this has to be on the top list of best memories

the bumpers on 830 are, as i am sure you can tell, designed so that they help the entire robot look like a Michigan Football helmet. Part of this includes a yellow layer attached to a blue layer of fabric. The yellow layer was detached from the edge of the front bumper, thus allowing it to hang down to the floor. It proceeded to hang down for the entirety of the time remaining in the match, and to my knowledge kept 830's alliance from winning one of the SF matches. If this bumper had stayed attached, would the regional have ended differently? Thats not my call to make. In any case, this picture is truly a feat, and one of the more memorable moments of week one, if not the entire season.

Thanks, I was wondering how we won that round. I haven’t seen any pictures or video of that side of the field.

torawhat was the matter with the fabric hanging down? Were points not given because the fabric was hanging below the height needed to get points, or were points taken away just because of the fabric? sorry, i never really understood the whole fabric thing..

Yes. The fabric on our bumpers was hanging such that it was only 2" off the ground. Since that was considered the "lowest point" of our robot, we didn't get any bonus points for being up on your ramp.

We've gotten a lot of compliments on our driving last weekend.... we appreciate it!

FishCaptainThat was such an amazing ending. I was so scared we were going to be pushed off the edge, but we were saved. That is one of the biggest highlights of the whole competition. Everyone in the stands were going wild, our team was going wild, the refs were going crazy. It was awesome.
On another note I just wanted to say thank you to Team 830 and Team 2177. I am so glad we got the chance to work together, we worked so well with each other. Hope to see everyone at IRI! (If we make it that is.)
